What is the Bowen Technique?
Introduced to Europe from Australia in 1992, the Bowen Technique is now one of the fastest growing complementary therapies in the UK.
The Bowen Technique is a gentle, holistic, non-intrusive remedial therapy, allowing the body to re-balance and heal itself.

Who can it help?
The gentleness of the treatment makes it suitable for everyone, from babies to the elderly, and from the fit sportsperson to the very ill.

What does the treatment involve?
A treatment takes up to an hour and can be performed through light clothing.
It is a “hands on”, “hands off” therapy whereby the practitioner uses fingers and thumbs to gently roll over specific points on muscle and soft tissue.
After each set of moves, hands are taken off to allow the body to respond to the treatment, and begin the process of re-balance while you relax.
The treatment is not a form of massage with no heavy manipulation or use of oils.
Many people require 3-5 treatments at weekly intervals.
Aftercare
Water
Following a treatment you are advised to drink plenty of water to allow the Bowen treatment tp perform efficiently.
Walk
Gentle walking and movement, with no long periods of inactivity is advised on the day of treatment to re-stimulate the Bowen treatment.
Week
After a treatment, the process of healing has begun. This will last for 5-10 days and so ideally your next appointment should be after 7 days.
It is not uncommon to feel tired after a treatment. This is simply the body adjusting to the Bowen treatment.
